Final Project

Artist Statement

            It is a big difference between the United States and my country, Hong Kong. This is a good chance to share my feelings about my feelings to people here. So, I picked this topic to talk about how difference between these two countries. I made an art piece with focusing on green color to represent United States. Because I remember when I first came to the United States, everything is green. There are a lot of greens in this environment with very fresh air. I liked it very much at first. But when time goes by, I feel so boring and start having the problem of home sick. I used two weeks to collect all the materials that I need and to represent Hong Kong and the United States for this project.

            For the United States art piece, I put everything green on it. Because I think the environment in The US are very green, fresh and natural. There are many trees and animals around. But the thing that I don’t used to it is I think most of the Americans like to eat fast food like French fries, hamburgers something like that. I also realized Columbus doesn’t have a lot of tall buildings and every unit of houses are not tall at all. So I drew a house, because Hong Kong doesn’t have a lot of houses, and there are just buildings.  For doing this art piece, the hardest thing to do is to find things with green color from the magazines or newspaper.

For the art piece of Hong Kong, I put many slim girls and fashions on it. Because most of the people in Hong Kong are very focus on their shape and their diet method is totally different with the people in the U.S. They would rather not to eat and like doing only one meal a day. They also like to take pills or medicines to keep fit, because most of the people are very busy on working and stuffs. So they don’t have much time to go work out and do exercises. I also put some cell phones on it, because the people in Hong Kong are very focus on their style of cell phones. One thing that I don’t like about Hong Kong is people are too caring about fashion and body shape.  Like the U.S, the can just wear a t-shirt and jeans to go out. I saw some people would wear pajamas for going out too. That’s a very special free style!

            

Process of my final project

I am kind of stress out to think about my final project. I would rather to have a topic to me and asked me what to do on my project. But, this class really making me start to like art, so I expect I must do well on my final project, which made me pop out a lot of thoughts about this project. I wanted to do about the differences of my life in the US and Hong Kong. On the other hand, I want to share my long distance relationship with my boyfriend. Since we just had a little bit of argument because of the long distance problem, so I wanted to make some arts to express my feelings and thinking.

At this moment, I just thought about the topic and I am still thinking what I should do with it. I might want to draw or make some art pieces to share with some people, because I don't really like to work on computers like using photoshop and stuffs from the computer. So, I might be use my own hands to make something out. I've studied art in Hong Kong at school for 2 years, but I stopped for a long long time. This is a chance for me to pick it up and work on my final project. My deadline for me to decide what to do will be on the end of this week. I would update more and edit more about my process of my final project later this week. Hope I could think something new or special.

"Splash" on my pajamas...

I am a girl who can sleep a lot. I can even sleep over 12 hours a day. I always set alarm for myself to go to school, but I have a problem with helping myself to wake up. I always question myself everytime when I am late... "I thought I have set alarm for this morning... how come I couldn't hear the alarm ring?? "

Sometimes I can luckily wake up by hearing the alarm rings to go to my morning class. And then I have another problem again.The problem is when I brush my teeth, I spread the toothpaste on my pajamas a lot!!! That's my problem! Maybe I am still dreaming while brushing my teeth.

SPLASH!!!

Then I realized sometimes I could make a shape of "splash" on my pajamas, and it happens all the time!

Sigh... I guess I have to wash my pajamas again... again... and again...!

I am the "Miss Pinky Pig Hero"

 This is my most favorite cartoon hero when I was 4 years old to 10 years old. I always like something with pink color. Don't think about she must be a very stupid character because she is a pig. Miss Pinky Pig is a very brave hero. She has special power to help people whoever get in trouble or problem in her country. She is actually a normal lady, but whenever she knows about someone needs help, then she will transform to a little pink pig and be a hero and shower her special power to and help people. Althought she is a girl, she is brave enought to help everyone in this world.  

When I was young, I always have a lot of problem with studying. I always fail classes in Hong Kong. I never tried to get a good grade at school. After watching this cartoon, I always think if I could be Miss Pinky Pig, I am surely would want to help myself toput all the notes and the things that I have to memorize for test in my brain, so I don't have to spend time and study much. Sometimes when I go through the libraries, I saw a lot of students got stressed out and frustrated from studying. I can tell they are hard workers, I also would love to give them a big gift and give them power that don't have to study and do the test with full credits. So I chose my project background is the library at the Ohio State University. Then, I am acting as a Miss Pinky Pig. I wanted to help all the students to be a genius and use my special power to tune up their brain and help them with studying. Because I am a student too, ofcourse I would understand the feeling of spending time on studying!

On this project, I used adjusing color to show how special I am with the normal people in the library... Since I am a super hero of them and I am helping them on studying or academic stuffs. So, I put myself in black and white color to show how different I am with other people. I also crop many characteristics of Miss pinky Pig on me, so it would look more trustful to be a Miss Pinky Pig. Hope I can help them on their academic this time!
